Engagement Myth

Myth: You must have an 8-18 month long engagement.

Yes, you do need an unnecessarily long engagement if you want to begin having children before you get married, if you don’t know how to work an excel spreadsheet, or email multiple people in one day, and/or you can only handle purchasing one thing per month for your wedding.

But if you are ready to spend the rest of your life with your significant other, which means you want to spend every day side-by-side with them, I’d get to the altar as fast as possible. Girls, find that dream dress; both of you, pick a great venue, line up some tasty food, pick your bridal party, invite all your family, friends, and family-friends, register, and do everything else you need to do while you are flying to the altar. Soak it all in. Enjoy the moments.

And then party to the glory of God like it is your last chance.

Disclaimer: I am not saying you are wrong if you have a long engagement, especially if you need to for circumstances you can’t change (i.e. school, or something). I am just saying if you can, I’d advise you to take only the time you need, and then partayyyy.
